Symptoms of Strep
While symptoms can vary from person to person, some of the most common symptoms of strep throat include:
- Sore throat
- Fever over 100 degrees Fahrenheit
- Headache
- Nausea and vomiting
- Muscle pain
When you visit the doctor, he or she will likely swab your throat in order to get a sample. The sample will then be sent to a medical laboratory for testing, and your test results should come back within a few days at the longest. If your doctor strongly believes that the problem is in fact strep throat, he or she may prescribe antibiotics even before test results come back. Patients should begin to feel better after a few days on antibiotics.
